I've only visited Houston, never lived there, but it strikes me as a very characterless and bland place. No natural beauty, completely flat, lousy weather, no urban density/walkability, etc. Just endless suburban sprawl. It's not an international vacation destination for a reason.
For people who just want a low COL and quiet suburbia type of life it seems ideal. But if one wants more from life it should be avoided. Good luck on finding a way out.
