Throughout the entire season NO one but Max and Checo could defend against Lewis for as long as they could.

………very much disagree here. Lando and Alonso had moments over the season of holding up Lewis for long stretches of time that most definitely helped Max*. I think there is plenty of talent on the grid that could’ve/would’ve pulled that move off in the same situation. Brand new softs with nothing to lose, you either make the pass and are the WDC or you don’t and you are still second. Not much decision making there. The straight line speed didn’t matter as all Lewis could do was draw along side of him and not overtake due to the slip stream. Besides, due to TIRES, Lewis had to brake way earlier than Max* and there wasn’t much to defend. Lewis had zero chance of regaining that position short of a mechanical issue with the Red Bull or a big mistake.
