The PR picture already shows problem with the new HUD.
Traditional HUD has a bit more "depth" (in other words, it is set up to look a little further than the distance of our eye to the windshield) thus our eye's depth of field is in line with the road.
However, having a our eyes have to focus on the screen tacked on the bottom of windshield and thus losing focus (depth of field wise) of the road, it has less benefit than traditional HUD... Just look at the PR photo. Screen is in focus and the road is blurred.
