Where does the V12 come from? Is it AML V12? The MB M279 is 6.0 liters to my knowledge. That will answer the starter question. MB uses 48V ISGs between engine and transmission but need to clarify who makes the engine. If an Aston V12 it's probably a traditional "Bendix" style starter driving the flexplate.
