Of course I’m thankful for and respectful of those whose lives and loss we remember today.

I think it is important for the rest of us to honor their sacrifice by doing what we can to uphold the freedoms and rights they died to protect.

I also struggle with the phrase “happy Memorial Day” as I cannot think it a happy day for those who lost a relative in service to the nation. Is there a better, or more appropriate greeting?
