It’s true. They do handle well and can be pushed very fast, but there is no communication through the steering or brakes even in the M cars. Very capable, but numb. Probably the best chassis other than Porsche. I picked up the new CLE53 AMG, and the car feels more alive and connected - it’s exciting to drive. I do think BMW has sacrificed a number of driving pleasures for the sake of production and fuel efficiency and market share. It is what it is. I wish they had been able to add back mechanical feel in certain vehicles while allowing others to become plush. The X5 and X7 are the best all around SUVs out there, but they are dialed in without driving pleasure.
