H2 popularity was driven (partly) by the ability tp write off the purchase process over 1-2 years for a business owner. So if you owned a business, you could basically drive it for free, reducing your taxable income by like 60k while driving it, depreciating it for the business, then sell it for most of what you paid and get something new. None of this worked as a lease, you had to purchase it to depreciate it. So they were dumping them early so they could get something new to depreciate.

The Hummers also sold quite well, and made GM a lot of money. It was only the greenies that hated them. They still sell for big money, especially if you were to look at an H2 SUT with the later 6.2L and 6 speed auto... 35k plus easy no matter the condition or miles.
