The backseat in my RSX-S is not really usable, except in emergencies.

However, the backseat of the 2 series is somewhat usable in a pinch. If you're 5' 9" or under it's okay for short distances (perfect for date nights, etc.)
So it's useful for early teenage kids, and some girls.

When I had a 3 as a loaner, putting the car seats in the back was a nightmare. Rear facing wouldn't fit behind me, and I'm only 6'2 and sit very upfront and on the wheel. Even putting my son front facing behind me he had very little room for his legs. Granted, the 3 is probably not designed as a family car, but for those of us with kids, it's too small.

Damn shame too, because I really want a manual sedan and M3 is one of the last ones left
