I hadn’t thought about the negative attitude towards having driving monitored when I started this. I’ve seen y’all make comments about it before, but it didn’t cross my mind when I started this. My main thought was the very good rates for low mileage drivers!! A big part of the variable portion of their premium is based on the number of miles driven each month, so, of course, they have to monitor your driving to get that information. The app also keeps up with whether you are the actual driver or whether you are on public transportation. It does a pretty good job of that, but not perfect. I sometimes lay my phone on the passenger seat, but I can’t recall it ever classifying me as the passenger. I am rarely a passenger. It does sometimes classify a drive as a ride on public transportation. lol, I just thought of this. Maybe on those rare drives where I don’t speed much and brake really smoothly on the whole trip it thinks I must be on the train. It does allow you to reclassify your drive if it gets it wrong. In the beginning I checked it fairly frequently, but now I rarely check it. But when I do I’ve noticed it still classifies some of my driving trips as rides on the L.

Anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised when I got my latest bill and it had a zero balance!!

just a little note in defense of my driving. I actually brake very smoothly almost all the time, but in a big, congested city sometimes you have to brake very suddenly. I’m not sure how much of this is due to our newest generation of drivers (I don’t think it’s much), but I have decided Chicago drivers are literally the WORST drivers in the entire country!!! They certainly are the worst of anywhere I’ve ever lived. I say this frequently. If they pulled some of the things they do here in Texas they would get run over!!! And possibly shot!! In the city almost all of the streets are either narrow or VERY narrow and 25 - 30 mph is pretty much the norm. So even on wide streets where 40 is easily doable (and maybe even the speed limit) they feel like they are just flying if they go over 30 mph!
