No thanks, because in that case F1 would become a snoozefest with Verstappen embarrassing the rest of the field each race with big gaps ahead at the chequered flag.
There are 'horses' and 'horses for courses'. The 2025 McLarens are horses for courses. The RB21 cars are horses. Rumors about the 2026 RBR car development (RBPT/Ford) are worrisome: risks to be a midfielder donkey or a backmarker tractor.
If Verstappen joins Mercedes in 2026, even if the car won't be as dominant as the McLarens, he'll get at least machinery at his disposal to battle with the McLarens. With his skills and experience he could stand a chance to even outfox Piastri and Norris in some GPs.
