The peculiar thing is that, if you take a closer look at the events competed by the previous NLS GT3 record holder Christian Krognes (see here), you'll notice that that Norwegian driver has spent a substantial part of his career racing at the Nürburgring, lapping it countless times. In 2022 he set the NLS GT3 lap record (7:49.578).

Fast forward to last Friday. Verstappen arrives at the circuit. Rookie in the GT3 real world - no license yet to race the 24 Hours of Nürburgring (real world - no sim racing). Boards a Ferrari 296 GT3. Laps 'The Green Hell' several times, slaloming through 'slow' traffic (no race event - video material shows drivers failing to keep up or giggling when Verstappen overtakes them), venturing the dynamics of the GT3 car when raced in real life at the Nürburgring. *BOOM*: NLS GT3 lap record (7:48). Bossed it - "Veni, vidi, vici". He leaves. Later, his team mate Chris Lulham gets stranded with the car next to the circuit, required to be towed away.
