Looks like it's over. Verstappen's exit clause will be activated after 30 June 2025. It turns out that top 2 had to be feasible by 30 June 2025. That ain't the case. So Verstappen has become a 'free agent'. He can join Mercedes in 2026, no RBR strings attached. The Austrian GP was a crucial race. Verstappen's race engineer GP Lambiase was exceptionally unavailable "for personal reasons".
F1 journalist Julianne Cerasoli knew more. If the Dutch F1 journalists at De Telegraaf confirm, then it's gonna happen. I expect Verstappen to sign this July. Wolff was waiting for the 30 June key date and it's clear that he wants the Russell situation to be clear too asap (cannot keep Russell hanging on a string till after the summer break). It's decision time. Exit Russell + Enter Verstappen. Russell could have a chat with Horner and Marko about the soon-to-be vacated 2026 Red Bull Racing seat.
