E46 overheating

Hey all!

Recently bought this 1999 328i and bought it form a guy selling it Stating that it has a blown head gasket, now I knew this when I bought it because it was going to be a project, now I’ve done a couple of test such as draining the oil to see if it was chunky or discolored and it was fine, also checked if the coolant was bubbling because I know that’s another way to check for head gasket, and I believe they we’re all fine but when I drive the car it overheats randomly and when it does I turn it off wait like 5 minutes and turn it back on and it likes to just go down slowly when I turn it off.

I was wondering if anyone knows what I can do to make it stop overheating or if there’s more test I should do to see if it’s the head gasket?
