I can give you ⅔ of an answer. I used it for 67,000 miles with no problems on my 2020 X540i and saved roughly 80 gallons of gas in that period of time. I have now sold the car and replaced with an X5M60i, where I am still using it.
With the LCI, the ASS runs off the mild hybrid system, so I don’t see any downside to using it. And the starting is seamless, coming from the electric motor for the instant before the V8 kicks in.
