Fuel consumption using only the engine
I have purchased the new M5 performance and i have a concern about the fuel consumption while the local dealer is not very clear with me. I would try to be as analytical as possible so i can get a clear answer from you.
In the first 2000 km (before the first maintenance service) while driving in the city with the traffic and using either Econtrol or dynamic mode the average fuel consumption was approximately 17-18 lt per 100 km. Let me make clear that i didn't paid any attention on how fast i was driving considering rpm and i was just enjoying driving a little bit fast .
After i passed the 2000km and approximately in 2500km i went the car for the first maintenance service. I know that they changed engine and differential oil and made a computer reset . From the very first moment i realized that the car was a little bit different ( more aggressive and more powerful) but i was unpleasant surprised with the fuel consumption because driving again in Econtrol or dynamic mode the fuel consumption increased to 25-27lt per 100km while this time driving very gently and calm ( rpm approximately 1200-1500). I don't even need to mention that if i drive it like before maintenance service ( with 3000-4000rpm) the consumption easily reaches the 30-35lt per 100 km.
After realized this big difference i immediately visited the service again to let them have a look in case they made a mistake on the settings. The official answer i got was that the fuel consumption is normal and i should use more often the hybrid system.
As a conclusion my only question is the below:
This car , when you drive it in the city and using only the thermic engine without electric or hybrid mode is it logical to have a consumption of 25-30lt per 100km or those numbers will be adjust lower? To my opinion this consumption is extremely high but i need someone to explain me please.....
