With my Porsche brakes the pads were secured -- to prevent them rattling -- by stamped steel springs held in place with a lock pin.

I checked brakes for the G82 and didn't see any separate hardware to prevent brake pad rattle.

But my thinking -- and the reason for mentioning this -- is the impact could have been severe enough that whatever keeps the pads from rattling has broken and one pad is loose -- so to speak -- in the caliper.

But if so as I suggested in another post having the car in for a thorough visual inspection of the suspension, steering, drive train and *brake* hardware should find what's going on.
