IMO it depends most on where you work.
Some places give everyone a cube. Others reserve cubes for only the lower ranks. Others give everyone an office. You'll see it across all industries so simply changing careers or moving up the ladder won't solve the problem (if it's a big problem).
Intel is an extreme case where everyone has a cube. It doesn't matter if you're an intern or Otellini - you have a cube. The fact that nearly every cube, floor, wall, window, building, etc are also the same just makes it worse. It was definitely one of the (minor) factors in my decision to not go back to Intel or AMD.
That being said, there are much better reasons to choose where you will or will not work. You should be there for the work, not the office furniture!
