About camera systems. If your mom is going to buy, don't let her get anything but a full digital system that records to a hard drive and CD/DVD. Anything else is a waste of money. The police can't do much with grainy/choppy video from a VHS tape that has been reused buy some cheap bastard for the last three years. Surveillance VHS videos are good for three uses before vid quality suffers so much that identifying anyone is impossible unless crusty the clown robbed you. Also, step up for color cameras and DO NOT mount them overhead like everyone does. High mounted cameras are good for broad scene capture but useless for ID, so you should have a camera mounted at head level near the register or door in addition to the rest of the cameras. I suggested that a business mount one in the refrigerated section where the drinks are kept. Criminals almost ALWAYS go to the back and get a drink to look like they blend in. It worked great and I have been able to ID more people from that camera alone than any ten in town.
