E46 overheating
Hey all!
Recently bought this 1999 328i and bought it form a guy selling it Stating that it has a blown head gasket, now I knew this when I bought it because it was going to be a project, now I’ve done a couple of test such as draining the oil to see if it was chunky or discolored and it was fine, also checked if the coolant was bubbling because I know that’s another way to check for head gasket, and I believe they we’re all fine but when I drive the car it overheats randomly and when it does I turn it off wait like 5 minutes and turn it back on and it likes to just go down slowly when I turn it off. I was wondering if anyone knows what I can do to make it stop overheating or if there’s more test I should do to see if it’s the head gasket? |

- Do a proper exhaust in coolant test with the fluid thingie you can rent from your local auto parts store.
- Check for clogged coolant lines or radiator. I've had absolute dogshit experience with aftermarket alu rads on a daily, and gave up and went back to an oem unit. - Check if your water pump is seized - Check if your fan is working, and is working properly. - Check if your fan shroud is messed up - Burp the system to hopefully get rid of maybe air bubbles in the system
