my mom got robbed at gun point VIDEO!!!
ok no video. and not at gun point, but she did get jacked.
Mexican family came into our store all dirty and shit, straight looks like those Home depot parking lot types. Parents distracted my mom with bs questions while their daughter, probably no older than 12 weaseled in the backroom and stuffed mom's purse in her backpack. The fucked up thing is, my mom already noticed that her backpack was bigger as they were able to leave. Told them to stop. They did. But she was scared to ask them to open the backpack because the law always fucks us, and cops always dick us, and she was afraid of getting sued if there was nothing in there. She looked around the store and nothing expensive seems to be missing (she didn't think they would go for her purse in the back room) so she let them go. 10 mins later, she realized the purse was gone. Fucking scumbags using their kids to steal. Questions: 1) She had her social security card in there (dumbass I know) so what do I do now to keep her credit secure. I am thinking about enrolling in one of those credit monitoring service for a monthly fee for about a year. What's a good one because I hear a lot of bs about not been able to stop the service when requested. 2) She is putting in an alarm system at the house because her DL was in the purse and she thinks these fuckers will come rob us because we are Asian merchants and we keep like a million dollars cash under the mattress. (we don't we are modern Asians, we use banks), but its a possibility given the economy. But I feel safer if there was also a gun in the house. There's no way my mom want register for 1, she just won't. So it will have to be my dad. But he is not a citizen and has permanent residence status (green card) Can he get 1 still since he is not a citizen and the constitution technically doesn't apply to him? Will the gun purchase affect him applying for citizen naturalization later? like will they say "o well why you get a gun? blah blah blah."? Sucks ass fffffffffuuuuuuuuuu scumbag get a job like my gardener. |

That is totally fucked!
Got surveillance? I can't help with those questions but I know that someone here can. Have you seen the surveillance vid where the redneck family goes to a pet store and the parents distract the owner while the kids stuff puppies under their coats? |

Trust me, cameras are a must for any business! You never know what can happen, and these will catch any and everything! You dont need super expensive ones; Costco and Sam's Club carry good ones for a couple hundred bucks and you can install them yourself. GL w/ everything. oh yeah and about the employee thing, they're the ones that need you, they can be replaced right away if they dont like the idea. |

Only way to protect your credit if stolen is to lock it up, you need to call all three credit bureaus i believe. You can do a search and find more info on how to do it. But the credit monitoring BS does not work as well as you may like or hope. Good luck.

Haha, yeah. I could probably live an entire life on your moms credit without the services knowing. Considering the type of crime that took place I doubt they are into ID theft. But call one of the bureaus and ask what can be done, there is no charge i believe, but all accounts are put on lock, it is impossible for anyone to open a new one until your mom calls to unfreeze them. My law is super rusty, sorry if my facts are off. I was a wizard with this stuff at one point, now...

I believe some states don't require a CCW if you are only keeping the gun at a home or place of business (ie not on your body). I wouldn't count on CA being one of them though.

It's ironic that your thread's title says VIDEO yet there are no surveillance cameras in your mom's store. Anyhow, I'm sorry to hear about it man. I hope you guys get things figured out soon. I used to carry a copy of my SS card around too until one day I realized that it wouldn't be too smart if I lost my wallet.

About camera systems. If your mom is going to buy, don't let her get anything but a full digital system that records to a hard drive and CD/DVD. Anything else is a waste of money. The police can't do much with grainy/choppy video from a VHS tape that has been reused buy some cheap bastard for the last three years. Surveillance VHS videos are good for three uses before vid quality suffers so much that identifying anyone is impossible unless crusty the clown robbed you. Also, step up for color cameras and DO NOT mount them overhead like everyone does. High mounted cameras are good for broad scene capture but useless for ID, so you should have a camera mounted at head level near the register or door in addition to the rest of the cameras. I suggested that a business mount one in the refrigerated section where the drinks are kept. Criminals almost ALWAYS go to the back and get a drink to look like they blend in. It worked great and I have been able to ID more people from that camera alone than any ten in town.

OP, if you do indeed attain a firearm, make sure to train everyone up on it. No point in owning one if you don't hit center mass or killing blow with your first shot. |
