Digital Key

An anyone please assist me… I’m not getting the typical “setup digital key” message in my BMW app. I always get this notification in all BMW I have had (6). Thia time around I’m in a 2025 M3 Manual transmission and I’m not seeing the notification. Also when I go to “Door & Windows” in the car menu, there is no digital key option (always saw it there in all previous vehicles). I already loaded my BMW ID for both physical keys and still nothing….

PLEASE HELP!!!! )

Manual transmission means you should lock/unlock manually too.

If it's not showing it's not been coded in or selected as option when this is done it gets coded in hence you see certain check box for features in the Idrive.

A digital key has nothing to donwith transmission type. Opening and closing the car with your phone is mon-related with transmission… that doesn’t make sense to me… is that a thought or is that an actual fact?

Is this something official? Is this coming from the BMW genius department as of something confirmed?

Besides this, when I go to the vehicle iDrive menu and select “doors & keys”, upon clicking on “key” it doesn’t even give the option of selecting what key of the pair you get, can be the main key, or even if you want to setup both as ‘main’ keys. Do you happen to know anything about this?

Keys in the couple are equal. The "main" key seems to be digital.

In the M4 I justtraded in, I had one physical key as main and the other as guest. So no, these are equal just if you want it that way, but can set these up as desired.

May be. I don't have that in my car and nor I really care , but that obviously refers to user profiles you can associate with the keys - explore the iDrive menu, it can be somewhere else (not in the “doors & keys” as you know already). My brief lookup of the "main" key discovered it was the first digital one you could use to derive from (and control?) many others for everyone you know and many you don't to drive your car for your ultimate pleasure.

And by the way, the car in your profile picture doesn't look like an X5 you claim you drive. You might want to update it.

Thank you for the reminder on the X5 M, I do not have that vehicle anymore, it’s been 8 months now. Where do I go and update that? Looked into profile menu, but didn’t see anything related to it…

pic to sig //// How to put an image into your signature ("Settings" in your dropdown profile menu is also the "User CP" in the top menu bar. That's a Web page, not mobile application - I don't use the latter.)
