Does anyone own a M1000RR? Thoughts and opinions on this bike?

Was thinking about picking one up but keep going back to Honda or Yamaha. Or maybe try out a Ducati Panigale V4/V4S/R.

Fuck that bro!!!! Had tons of street bikes growing up. I cannot imagine riding on the streets today with all of these fucking idiots on the road. EVERYONE is on their phone/watching vids/ TikTok/IG whatever da fuck. The chances of you getting creamed are extremely high. Just my opinion. I would love to still ride but I just have zero faith anymore. It sucks

What a beauty! I'm kinda biased, so will say go for it. Test rode one when they came out, very 'flickable' compared to my S. Good-luck.

I can understand. You have to ride extremely defensively. High speed and lack of awareness and skill from the rider also plays a contributing factor so it goes both ways hand-in-hand.

Easier said than done, but you just have to be extremely defensive and very aware and sharp and good with reflexes and wide awake 110% every single time and then it always helps to dial down the speed. Maturity and a level head is a big plus.

Of course not. Just saying be fucking careful!!! I’m on the road a lot more these days with work and all I see are people swerving all over the road. You can tell when they are on their phone as your coming up on them. Constantly jerking the wheel to move back into the lane they just slid out of. It’s bad and only getting worse. People just have zero fucks to give anymore. It sucks

Here in FL motorcycles have definitely changed over the last 15-20 years. I used to see guys riding bikes as their primary transportation all the time. They were cheaper and better on gas than cars so they made sense. Now I hardly see them at all, and if I do see them they're riding in a group for safety.

My buddy in rural NC it seems like they still ride bikes a little bit up there. But here in suburbia, all but dead.

I simply don't put my bike in a situation where I can get hit, and I perfected the practice of driver profiling. I never rely on a Cage'r to do the right thing ever and I expect them to not follow the rules or laws of the road.

You made it sound like one should never ride a motorcycle at all; I was just wondering.

Ride away, it’s a great thing. BUT, I don’t care if you think your Ricky Gadson . Stuff happens in a split second and no one can avoid certain things. Just had a guy this spring on a bike in South Philly sitting at a red light. Girl never breaked and crushed him. Obviously she was on her phone but it doesn’t matter what the case was. That poor dude had no chance. Trust me, I do miss riding bikes. I have gone the boat route these days to get me by

Not trying to be a Karen at all. It’s just frustrating to see how much people are not paying attention these days. I sound like the old miserable man. Get off my Lawn. Lol. Bike to bike topic. My favorite was my 750 Gixxer back in the day. Loved that bike!! These new Beemer bikes are insane now a days.

If you decide to buy the M1000RR over the S1000RR remember that the M is closer to the race bike and has a significantly more expensive service schedule.

Personally, if you're not planning on taking that bike on track, there's no reason to get an M over an S other than for bragging rights. The current S bikes already have a few bits from the M such as the cylinder heads/air box, quick throttle, and much of the suspension geometry.

I was looking at that decision when I got my 22 K67. When the details came out about what was different between the S and M at that time (which was greater than it is now), it wasn't worth the price differential. I have zero regrets with my "lowly" S bike.

ETA: On the Panigale, you might want to do some digging about the rear brake line/rear wheel speed sensor issue. I ran across a video where the location of the exhaust is cooking at least the brake line. Apparently, the only fix right now from Ducati is to keep replacing the brake line. The video I saw also saw heat damage to the wiring for the speed sensor. The author of the video decided to do his own fix by using heat shielding tape. He mentioned this has been a problem with other owners. I haven't looked much into it personally as I don't have any desire to own another Ducati again after my experience with an 848 I have since sold.
