dementia and THC

My wife is stage 7 alzheimers. Back in stage 6 she became extremely distressed during all her waking hours. Verge of tears, the dog just died kind of distress. As her only caregiver it was dragging me down with her.
We tried anti-anxiety, anti-psychotics, anti depressants, with no relief.
Talking with the doc I mentioned I was looking at CBD. He was of the opinion that anything was worth a try at that point. Went to the local dispensary and decided to try some THC edibles.
The transformation to a calm happy person, even if it is only for 4 hrs or so is remarkable.
We found you really need to try different strains and doses.
Sativa made here anxiety much worse.
Indica works for her. I tried seperate CBD edibles and they negated the positive effects of THC for her. 5-10mg each day is where we are at.
She has been stoned every day for the better part of a year now.
Something to consider if your dealing with dementia or need to in the future.

I think when you're faced with the issues of alzheimers you do what works. I can see indica helping as it seems to be a relaxant.

Good luck and Peace.

I think I have some dementia taking place. Not sure how bad it's going to get down the line.

take a SAGE test
https://www.verywellhealth.com/sage-...tia-test-98644

first time I gave it to my wife it took her 50min and she scored in the mild cognitive impairment range. I took it at the same time, 3 min and no errors.

I've gone through this with my mother and now my wife. If anybody has questions feel free to PM me.

I wish you the best of luck.

I think I may have some memory issues. I'm going to take the test in the link here and see how I do.

I might give it a try once I get my ADHD settled and after I take a good nap one of these days.

Although I only briefly used THC many years ago, I had a grandmother who died of dementia at age 74 and that makes me a bit nervous. I feel like I'm having some little memory issues, and so I took the SAGE test. I have an appointment with my pri care doctor in August and plan to give her my test; overall I did very well, which is reassuring.

The test is just one tool the neurologist will use. Your primary physician likely does a shorthand version...what day is it, who is president, they show you an object then put it out of sight and later ask you what the object was, etc.

My wife started having issues 3-4yrs prior to a diagnosis. She noticed her performance at work (hospital lab) was slipping and I noticed things at home. The first test she was given was the Montreal cognitive test and scored 27/30, at the edge of normal cognitive range. She was referred to a neurological psychologist, who spent an hour with her and concluded something more than just anxiety was going on. Combined with the fact that no supervisor at work had approached her about performance so I concluded it was just age related. She continued to decline over the next year and I could no longer right it off as old age. 3 hrs with the neurologist and psychologist and she was diagnosed stage 4 early onset alzheimers (she was 63).

The scary situation is when you live alone. Dementia will allow you to wreck your finances in the blink of an eye.
