*******PLEASE NOTE THE "NOT SAFE FOR VEGETARIANS"********

So, with the wife and kids looking at colleges up in Boston and Rhode Island...I took it upon myself to eat like crap, and treat myself a couple of these bad boys.

This tag is 1 steak - 2.28 lbs in all its glory

Steak1.jpg

Here's a precooked pick - we're sitting almost 2" thick of aged bone-in ribeye. The bone itself has not been cut lengthwise
Steak2.jpg

Cooked it on the Weber - typical fuel, 1/2 Kingsford - 1/2 Apple Lump. Steak is room temp before searing - dressed in nothing but sea salt, fresh ground pepper, and a little EVOO
Steak3.jpg

To get an idea on the massive Flinstone-ian size - that plate is almost 11" in diameter.
Steak4.jpg

Know - I know what you're thinking, and you're probably right. Someone is going to squeal to the Mrs. on me.

Steak5.jpg

Well - everyone in the house is telling me my secret is safe. And yeah - I ate one yesterday too.
Steak6.jpg

Off to get my cholesterol meds!

Just note: I took the bones away from them once the meat was gone. Don't want them getting splinters in there stomach. But yeah - they ain't no mama's dogs now.

Yup, hubby just seems to dump me with a fuck load of work.

I'm switching teams, if a wife is this much better!

(wise choice with the bones, the surest way to fuck up your me time is to let them enjoy life too much)

The dogpictures are hilarious.

Are bonesplinters a problem for dogs?
My parents used to have a dog and he got a bone every week and after a few hours he completely ate/crushed the bone (it was raw obiously). Never had any problems afaik.

Can be - depends on the bone iteself. Chicken bones, ham bones, rib bones have a tendency to splinter and are considered unsafe.

There are other bones that are more safe for dogs - like knuckle bones that you get at the pet store. Just need to be careful...

I applaud you...as getting rid of the kids for a few days is key. Congrats.

Might I just state that if you're happy the wife is staying with you...well, maybe you just haven't been married long enough. ;) :D

To note: I've been with my wife since high-school...and let's just state that I graduated when hair bands where still a thing.

Haha..don't get me wrong. Alone time with myself is rare, I would rather be with my girl. I can still do my thing but we have fun at the same time. My wife likes to read and hang..I'm always on the go: wrenching, fixing, cleaning, puttering, etc...

bTW, I'm not far behind you...I'll be 42 in Oct.
