Just got a Wii for xmas. What games are good? I've heard good things about Smash Brothers, Mario Galaxy. What else? Any shooting games good (metroid maybe)?

sell the Wii and get either a PS3 or xbox 360.

Unless your 10-14 y/o you will be bored within a month. Wii is great for party and 3 other friends, other than that its a useless gaming console.

Metroid prime is probably THE only and best shooter for the Wii.

The only legit one I know of that works with most newer consoles is that D2C pro or w/e that is about ~$100

Super Smash is fun, uhh dunno whatelse I just have the wii sports and the wii fit. borrowed super smash until I mod mine.

Hard to say since I don't know anything about you. In my opinion is that the Wii is more for kids based on the games available...especially if you regularly work out. I mostly play Tiger Woods since it is too cold to golf and Wii Sports with the kids as an active family activity. I recommend:

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 (you can play on-line for free)
Wii Fit (if you do not work out regularly)
Active Life: Outdoor Challenge (if you have kids, this has a running pad)
Wii Play (Gets you a game with controllers, cheaper than just getting more
controllers)
Buy Wii Points on-line and get:
Aqarium (good for kids it is like having vitural pets, they remember to feed
the fish everday which helps them to remember to feed thier hermet crab)
Bag Toss is fun if you have a lot of friends over
You can also buy a lot of older games on-line as well

If you like anime, or are at least familiar it, you might like "No More Heroes". Fun game, over-the-top violence, and absolutely hilarious situations. Oh, you get to wield around a lightsaber and have to recharge it every now and then by... uh... "shaking" your Wiimote. <.<;

get the raving rabbits game. first version is best I think.

I got my wife a Wii, Wii Fit and Mario Kart for xmas. We're having a blast with it. We had another couple over last night it was hilarious. We played Mario Kart and pulled out the Wii Fit for the first time and were laughing hysterically at each other:laugh:.

My in-laws came over today cuz my father-in-law came to help me put in a new garage door opener(ours crapped out on xmas night:mad0260:) and the wifey and her mom played Wii all afternoon and loved it.

So far I would say it was a very good purchase. Definitely get Mario Kart! It's soo much fun.

I do agree that there's not many games I would really be interested in playing... too kid oriented. PS3 or Xbox for me.

I was laughing to my wife that this month I have been a hacking whore. Hacked my 2 PSP's, Iphone, Wii and a couple of friends PSP's.

I have had all gaming consols, pretty much ever. I dont like playstations, I think the Wii is much more entertaining than it.

I am addicted to Zelda, its been pretty fun. I just got mario kart last night, and its fun. It's not as good as mario kart of N64, but still fun.

If you are looking to sit by urself and game, then yeah, geting an xbox or something. If you want to be interactive with other people, the wii is pretty cool. I havent played my 360 since I got the wii.

Super mario galaxy and brawl are the only REALLY good made for the wii unlike Zelda which is a gamecube game. Sorry but wii is f'ing FAIL...

I got mine chipped so there are some games worth looking into but nothing I'd buy. Like SSX, zack & wiki, paper mario they're all fun for like a day and then you get bored.

I'm hugely dissapointed, I agree with the first dude sell it and get one of the other systems!

Definitely Mario Kart! Awesome game to have friends or family over and get online.
All of the Lego games are a blast too. Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones(not as awesome as star wars but still fun).

Resident Evil and some others have an arcade style shooting. The ones where you point a gun at the screen. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Red Steel is by far my favorite Wii game...i actually havent touched the Wii in over 2 months....just got boring with the PS3 sitting next to it...

Don't waste your time with Metroid Prime 3. I liked Prime 1, never played Prime 2, but IMO, Super Metroid (SNES) was the best of the entire Metroid series.

I agree with Mega Man. Prime was awesome on the gamecube but the new Metroid on the Wii sucks. I think they focused too much on making different controls with the Wii setup rather than making the game really awesome.
I don't like the new Zelda either... definitely a slow game to get into.
