Pizza talk thread

I love pizza. And this forum seemed suspiciously devoid of pizza talk.

Since getting married 8 years ago, my wife has limited my intake of pizza.... some nonsense about how it might make me fat (she doesn't believe in the dad bod)... so I turn to this forum to express my true feelings and desires.

So here is my list of my personal favorite pizza spots in the US:

#1) Pequod's Pizza - Chicago, IL

Not that I ever stopped eating pizza, but last few months have been especially high on the crave list. Been heavy on the thin crust train. Can't get enough of it.

I think it's because I recently have been adding fresh garlic to every pizza order. It's a game changer. Turns good pizza into great pizza.

Love me some fresh roasted garlic.... I usually pair it with spinach and jalapenos.

We take our pizza very seriously where I'm from.

Yep. Spinach + garlic is the magic. I love jalapenos myself but some people don't like the heat.

Truthfully though... I haven't travelled much at all to the Northeast so I can't include a pizza spot from there if I haven't tried it. I'm open to all pizza's... I don't discriminate. So I'm open to being educated.

My motto - there's no such thing as bad pizza... only some pizza that's better than other pizza.

Good pizza is good pizza whether it's Chicago style, Neapolitan, Sicilian, NY or whatever. I lived in Chicago for over four years and I can appreciate theirs, all that matters is that you enjoy it.

If we're going to start the New Haven talk... Sally's is 100% the best of the bunch. Followed by Modern with Pepe's coming in third.

Pepe's has great pizza, but Sally's is near untouchable.

Digorno Meatball marinara. If you can find one, try it. No one in my STATE has them. I've looked.

Also we have this Bostons restaurant here. They have a whole wheat pizza. Damn good!

I've gone pretty deep. Milling flour and such.

I think the most pizzas I ever made for a neighborhood party was 18 - 20. Each batch of dough is good for 6 pizzas, and I usually have to make 1 or 2 that are eight gluten free or cauliflower crusts, I have also made Einkorn (supposed to be more digestible for those with wheat issues).

Anyway, good times, but Covid has definitely slowed my pizza parties.
