Help with Replacing a 2004 E60 Display Screen
Aloha, I’m looking to replace the display unit in my 2004 E60, the screen’s gotten pretty pixelated, and while I’m at it, I’d like to upgrade from the 6.5” to the 8.8” screen, with the capability of adding a back-camera later would be great also.
I’ve seen a bunch of options on eBay, but I just want to make sure I get the right one that’s truly plug-and-play. My home screen shows a CCC display, but when I checked the label on the back of the unit, it says “CID MID,” which has me a little confused, so I’m not sure if it’s actually CCC or CID. I’m adding some info from the labels below in case it helps. Any advice or tips would be really appreciated. E60 CID MID LU Bordmonitor CID 6,5 PN: 65.82 - 6938109 IdentNr: 011884 Prod Date: 2003/07/03 Last edited by 808byC; 04-27-2025 at 04:41 PM.. |

you don't have either there, what you have is M-ASK.
CID = Central Information Display. If you're going to upgrade, skip CCC altogether and go straight to CIC i-Drive, it was installed in late model E60s and is much, much better. You'll need to be able to code as well. I had an E60, coding them is fairly straightforward if you know what you're doing and feel comfortable with it. Check out 5series.net, that's a great E60 forum and it's a bit more active than this one. You could also skip the factory options altogether and just go right to a setup like Dynavin. Good luck. |

Upgrading from one outdated system to another (CIC) is a total waste of time and money.
Just pickup one of the countless Android screens that will give you an 8.8 inch display, along with wireless CarPlay and android auto. Costs a few hundred bucks, is totally plug and play, and will sort both your screen issue and offer modern connectivity. For example: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtqCGmP |
