Man, this sucks. I feel badly for this guy.

http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/camaro-owner-records-mechanics-abusing-car-scheming-damages-152707580.html

I hate leaving my keys with mechanics, etc., but it can't be avoided. I try to tell myself that I'm only being paranoid, and that these people are supervised professionals, but then you read stories like this.

I wonder how many times my car has been pushed hard, etc. at the hands of the BMW grease monkeys . . . I seriously doubt that they roll around like choir boys in a stranger's M3.

Unreal. That Stealership will probably go out of business because of this.

This is unbelievable! First off the techs should be fired. How has the dealership not even replaced the clutch?! I would be effing livid.

His first problem was going Chevy.

In all seriousness, this occurrence is quite common regardless of the make. Makes me sick.

Definitely going to buy a couple of voice recorders to stuff into the car next time I take it into the dealership. If I could rig up a hidden-motion capture camera I'd do that too . . .

In all honesty this is one of the main driving forces, besides a myriad of other things, on why I LEASE and turn the car BACK in after its up. Say he never knew what happened and actually belived the dealer. Think about how many problems that car could potentially have down the road!

I agree. Having a couple of scumbags for employees can't be held against the owner. Refusing to make it right for the customer because the dealership had a couple of scumbags for employees is an entirely different matter.

I would only feel that it was made right if the car was replaced with a new model/bought back for considerably above the value and that money came directly from the paychecks of the two sleezebag mechanics.

It happens all the time. When I worked at Mercedes, I was in view of the service area and saw every single car the techs took out to give a test drive after finishing work. When the AMGs and such were done... you knew it without seeing it because you'd hear them peel out and haul ass down the side streets. Sometimes in modded cars or exotics like the SLS, Black Series models, SLR, etc they'd fill the cars up with other techs to "assist in the test drive." The breaking shit part is pretty fucked, though. I've never seen that happen and when a timing belt snapped during a test drive the dealer and techs didn't try to hide it and blame it on just the owner (I know because the car owner is actually a family friend).

This happens at every dealership in every city, state, and country. That's why I like working on my shit myself.
