Honestly I'm getting fed up with the run around and the rumours. I wanted the most hardcore version of the M2. However I think that the F87 is already the best chassis BMW makes currently as a "driver's car" the bigger models are great GT cars, but unless you go to the GTS/CSL, they start to fall flat. Plus, it's hard to justify more than one of the same model, even if it's different like CS to CSL |

I doubt BMW would unveil the new G80 M3 while the F82/3 M4 is still in production.

Exactly. This will never happen based on my experience of owning M3/M4 dating back to the E36. I expect the unveiling sometime next year with release sometime in the summer or fall of next year as a 2021 model (G80/82 together).

I saw that M4 CS ends production in February 2020, so it makes sense that M2 CS goes in production one month later in March 2020. |

If this is true and F83 production won't end until August 2020 according to ynguldyn's first post in this thread, it won't be unveiled until September 2020 at the earliest.

BTW that front page picture is scary af. And it totally doesn't look like how I do it (hint: tea leaves, not crystal ball).

Is it me, or does G26 look more like 4GT than 4GC here?

I call bullshit on manual not being offered in AWD; the E53 and E83 both had manual variants as well as the E70.

CS is the one we've known about for a long time, and it's coming soon. The timeframe mentioned a few posts higher seems plausible. The name of the new special version I don't know yet.

The E70 wasn’t available in a manual, and the other two you referenced went out of production 9 and 13 years ago. All of those were also SUV’s, which there’s about a 0% chance of being offered as a stick today. If you’re going to use examples for AWD sticks from BMW, the 3-Series offered AWD and a stick as recently as the 340i xDrive sedan that just ended production last year. That’s a much more applicable and recent example.

The problem is that they're trying to reduce drivetrain configurations to reduce costs. EVERYONE is doing this because of the amount of money being spent on EV development. I also feel like they're trying to hunker down as some signs point to a possible downturn in auto sales and maybe even a recession. If the G80 6MT RWD was up in the air, then what do you think the chances of an AWD 6MT being produced are? It's still possible of course, but it makes sense that BMW wouldn't make it. We'll see I guess. |
