There will be some accidents in the crates but they aren't too bad if you just take it outside and hose if off. The trays pull out and can be cleaned separately. The sooner they are trained to go outside the better. And the training isn't that hard - most catch on pretty quick. Taking them out often enough but not go crazy with it is a little tougher to master.

Our dogs have always been crate trained so I did not want them thinking the crate was a place to relieve themselves. With all out puppies, frequent walks outside with treats to reinforce that outside is where they go. Worked like a charm every time. But it is work, taking them out every hour as 7-8 week old puppies takes dedication.

Amazon has a bunch of different sized crates from Midwest that work well and decently priced. Kong makes a good one as well. Your local pet stores (eg PetCo) sell crates, too.

Terrible shave job by the vet in preparation for Bella's ultrasound. I'm sure she was fighting them every step of the way!

I will totally display my ignorance but you can trade in fish for newer models? How bad is the depreciation hit?

Our first puppy in 18 years. Our last one was a German Shepherd. We went a little smaller with a whole lot less shedding this time.
