I personally have not owned an M car YET. I myself owned only 2 BMWs. I had a 2009 BMW 328 with 76k miles on it. Brought it from the first owner in 2019 with 67k miles. Sold it to a fellow forum member almost 7 months ago. My parents had a 2003 BMW 330XI. They brought it brand new in 2002. Sold that in 2013 for a 2013 Honda Accord Touring.

I was looking into buying an M3 before I sold my 328. My original plan was to keep the 328 and buy an E46 M3 or E9x M3. But, I got a really good offer on my 328 that I ended up selling it. I still could've brought an M3 and a winter beater but ended up buying a 540 instead. Funny, when I sold the 328 I was leaning towards a 340. Ended up with a 540.. what're the odds

But, I hope to own an E46 M3 or an E9x M3 along with an E39 M5. I know all 3 of those chassis M models are kinda pricey. I found a 2004 BMW M3 in Imola Red for 27k with 75k~ miles at an Acura dealer near me before I sold the 328. But, there was no record of any of the 3 major maintenance items being done and they wouldn't take off that b.s. "protection package" that they wanted $2500 for.

There are two E9x BMW M3s for sale on craigslist near me. But, I'm saving up for a house/townhouse. Or else I'd be all over one of those

I bet older M cars like the E46 M3, E9x M3, etc are going to get even more expensive with the way BMW is designing these new M cars. Like the new M2

my 1st and possibly last M car.

have owned it for 8 years now and love it more than the first day!

101,000+ miles on it now bought it with 24,000 miles.

I had a 135 before it, I became impulsive and traded in a leased 135, lost money to do so—and bought this outright! If I had to do it all again I would do the same in an instant!

before buying the 1M I used to sit around
autotrader doing imaginary shopping for
cars—-after buying it I've never done that!

buy something you LOVE and be satisfied E46s will only go up in price buy one now and keep it a long time!

When I was around 12-16 years old, I'd always watch European Delivery videos on youtube. Ever since then I've always wanted to experience European Delivery. Suck BMW got rid of it.

I hope they'll bring it back but I doubt it.

I have had three, and still have two of them. Traded in an 18 M2 for a 21 M2. Just to good of trade in value and deal on the last of the M2C.

Oh and still have my 08 M3 E92. Got a horrible trade in offer on it when I bought the 18 M2, then tried to sell it for a while. Got horrible offers... So just held onto it. One day Ill put it up for sale again.

Had a brand new 2013 E92 M3 when they were still selling new. Haven`t bought another one snice. Never really was a fan of the F80 and the 6 cylinder they put in it. After the M3 I moved to a C7 corvette with a V8 and manual transmission.

There are a lot of M car owners on this forum. Just look at the M specific sections. I bought my current M2 new in January 2018 and love it. No plans to replace it in the near future.

So what is the overall question of this thread? I see the thread title, but it doesn't quite fit with the OP's post. No offense, just trying to understand. Lots of people own M's.

Same as 10"'s user avatar10" this is my 1st and probably last ///M. Everything BMW puts out these days are overly large and chunky :thumbdown

My 1st BMW (the e53 X5 in the background) weigh 4343 lbs. Today's G80 M3 competition is only 400 lbs shy of that chunky monkey X5!

Owned:
  • E39 M5
  • E46 M3 Vert
  • 2002 M Roadster
  • E92 M3
  • F80 M3
  • E60 M5 (current)
  • F90 M5 (current)
  • F85 X5M (current)

Of those, my favorites were E92 M3 and the M Roadster. I'll be buying an LCI X5M when they come out.

M cars, there is nothing like them. Once you go down the path, it will be hard to go back to a non-M car. It's difficult to explain, but well worth however long you'll have to wait before you can get in one. Best of luck!

I don't personally understand the appeal of the M3's etc when considering their price for performance, especially when considering the incredible performance gains costing very little on the N54's and beyond (the Burger 500 hp pkg sells for $1500). There's significant/exciting and safe hp gains for your 540 as well for very little expense.

This is F82 M4 is my second M car. I absolutely love the look of the car but I think they messed up with all the nannies these cars come with. I also don't really care for all the extra electronics that you NEVER use.

Once I get back to SD I'll be looking at picking up another E92 M3 as that car was just pure driving enjoyment. Plus the engine noise these produce is just godly.

2007 Z4 M Coupe (new)
2002 E39 M5
2008 Z4 M Coupe
2021 M2 Comp (new)

Swapped the first Z4M with EAG towards the E39 M5, which I'd wanted for years. Only kept it a year - liked it but didn't love it. Bought second Z4M in 2018, a great find with 34k miles in spectacular condition. Unfortunately it got hit in early 2021. I'd been eyeballing the M2 since the OG's original release. Ordered M2c in February of last year. It's proven to be a worthy replacement for my beloved Z4M. I still want another one someday, but have no plans to ever give up the M2c. My favorite car in 49 years of driving.
