If she had orthoscopic to just repair tissue damage, then I can see staying off a clutch for a few weeks. Good luck with her recovery!
She's got a portion of her menescus that's torn and folded under itself. It was pretty obvious in the MRI and the ortho doc said that no amount of PT would make a difference-- he's got to go in and cut the piece out and then reshape/smooth the area where it was.

It'll be done arthroscopically, so she should be back to full-function in 4-6 weeks.

Been there done that too. I hope she has a successful surgery and recovery. Great that she's not using it as an excuse to give up three pedals. Good for her!!!

So. I dropped a few pennies for the Minister's new toy-- mostly for protection/keeping it nice, with just a little bit of gingerbread for lighting.

Frunk bin, trunk mat, rubber floor mats, LED side/turn lights (to get rid of the bright orange ones), and LED upgrade lighting for the cabin, frunk and trunk.

That..... should be about it, other than the comm module magic to get her CarPlay and MagSafe charging.

The plan is that she does a "Fly and Ride" over Easter weekend. BUT, if the weather is looking sketch when she gets ready to leave, we'll just have the car shipped here to Denver.

About the only other thing she'll need is a cup holder. But since there are a few different variations there, I want to wait until she's physically in the car to decide.

Yesterday was The Minister's "Pickup My New Baby Day" in Ohio.

She LOVES it and drove from just south of Cleveland to Chicago last night.

Today was Chicago to Omaha.

Tomorrow, she'll be home-- and I spent the better part of the day cleaning up her side of the garage so it has somewhere to live. The Minister is meeting me for dinner.... assuming I get back to Denver on time as the weather's been a little wonky at DIA today.

The Minister *did* mention that I could look at a 911 if I thought we needed a matching pair!

Um..... no.

Think again. This time twice. Denying inevitable you only make it harder for everyone. I recall you shared she demanded a Porsche to let you go for a profitable job relocation back then. You didn't, apparently. Now what?

Confused?

I've been in Denver over 25 years, married for just under 15. No relocation here (yet).

Well, I can't find it (maybe it was in the "unsearchable" Off-Topic section and I have no good keywords for Google) but I remember clearly (no way I could imagine that and quite unlikely it was somebody else) you wrote you had an attractive job offer requiring temporary relocation (a long business trip?) and when you asked your wife if you could take it she told you you could go if you bought her a Porsche, not necessarily new. If that were true it would look you finally bought her the car in vain, in a sense. Never mind.

Honestly, if I could have only one of my cars back that I’ve ever sold, it would be my ‘06 Boxster. I loved it 100x more than my current 911.

It was the most engaging fun and beautiful car, and was 100% reliable from the day I got it until the day I sold it.

Your wife is going to have a blast with it!

Congrats to her! She'll love the car more and more as time goes on. These Boxsters/Caymans do that to you. That's a great garage too. Mine is a 2011 Cayman 6MT and a 2018 M2 DCT plus the wife's roly-poly, go anywhere 2020 4runner.

Truth be told, there is one other slight problem: Between the work at the dealership, the PPF/ceramic work, and the electronics work to update the car to work with modern tech, the car won't be ready for pickup until the minister flys out to pick it up and drive back on 18 April......

..... and I'm not sure I'm going to survive the Minister's bouncing off of the walls until then!

She's having (clutch leg) knee surgery the week after the drive back, so she's chomping at the bit to get the car home since she'll be restricted from using a MT for 4-6 weeks after surgery.

Haven't been posting much lately...oddly, was actually looking at that car when it hit the market. That guy always has nice stuff...and they're not far from me.

Assume you have this now...and all is good?

Got my '14 BS in Chicago, paid 56K for one that had 19K mileage. Other than winter storage, been driving it more than my M4.

Yup-- all good. I drove it to the Porsche dealer today to get the VIN verified so I can register/title it in CO.

When the Porsche dealer rages about how you have the best year and best color, I guess that means that you did ok?

In other news, since I was there and curious, the Cayman is a no-go seat-height for me, even with the lower track seats (or whatever they call them).

The 911 is fine on headroom (as long as there's no sunroof), but I'm not blowing north of $200k on a car. From the little I gathered after talking to the Service guy who was doing my VIN paperwork, a used 991.1 911 T or GT3 Touring would be where I'd probably be happiest.

However-- even used? Yowtch-- Porsche *really* likes their stuff.

I'm not sure that I'd enjoy the 911 T three times more than my M2C!

You must have a hella long torso. Im 6' 2" with a 34" inseam and have tons of headroom in my 987.2 Cayman which has fractionally less headroom than the 981/718 Cayman. I have so much headroom that I could easily wear a helmet.

Or the seats: the current bucket seats (available for the top version only) have electric height adjustment (as well as those two highly adjustable seat options available) while, at least at BMW, electric seats are reportedly higher than manual. Formerly bucket seats were available for the basic Cayman as well, but I don't remember if they had electric or manual height adjustment. Anyway bucket seats lack the backrest adjustment, so the seat option to try for him should be the basic/simple "2 way" Sport Seats (or Sport Seats Plus), adjustable manually in height (which might make more headroom!) as well as "longitudinally" and also having electrical backrest adjustment (that appears to make 3 ways to me ). The latter two adjustments could help to add headroom by leaning back reasonably.

37.5" sitting height.

It made flying a T-38 easy though-- just run the seat aaaaalllll the way down to the ground-- no adjustment needed!

I tried the buckets-- hated them. They're just a little too snug for a 59 year old.

The other seats were electric back/forth and manual up/down-- and yes, even at the very bottom point on the Cayman, I had *maybe* a finger's-width of clearance on the roof. It would drive me crazy, and the only way to wear a helmet would be to run the seat at an absurdly creative lean angle.

It's always been an issue. In the mid-'90's, I was jonesing *hard* for an e36 M3. At the time, you could only get one with a sunroof (maybe 1994?).

I drove three plus hours from my base to the nearest BMW dealer. I told him my sitting height problem. He said that he'd *never* had anyone have a problem. I went and sat in the car. His response was "I can't sell you this car-- you'll be miserable."

So, my sitting height is a thing.
