if you find it interesting in the beginning and you think you want to continue watching, i suggest you do in one sitting. it doesnt have the same 'kick' otherwise (at least imo)

The story of that young girl gathering cloths and magazines in preparation for the birth of her baby is inspiring. I mean she is herself... a child.

They're very "grimey" when it comes to living off the grid.
There was a very good article about this in Dwell a while back:
http://www.dwell.com/articles/no-grid-in-sight.html
I have a friend who lives "Off the Grid" in Hawaii (believe it or not) - however he is a respectable computer programmer, and not a cracked out homeless guy.
It's a hardship but you learn a lot. His reason is not by choice, but rather by financial hardship in this economy.

Very interesting stuff. I find it particularly of note how they demonize the government and much of what this country has accomplished, but still expect a monthly check and hand outs from the government. Also, they stress the basic tenets of the constitution, but continually violate laws (trade weed for fuel/food/etc) set forth by the government that sprang from the guidelines of that document. I'm not arguing in favor of the government (I think taxes are out of control, primarily due to supporting social programs that have grown fat and bloated), but they seem to weave these elaborate tales of heartache that very precisely skirt certain issues while painting themselves as the ultimate victim. Anyway... I'll get down from my box now...

from the title I thought this was gonna be about that District 9 movie (it looks promising for yet another sci-fi faux-documentary film)
