Lady Jane 's comment about catheters reminded me that I needed to give a final update on this thread. Thursday will be 1 year since I was discharged from the hospital. I have a couple happy pieces of news to report.

From the surgeries I had a DVT in my right leg. It showed zero improvement at my 6 month ultrasound, and I'd been on Eloquis the entire time. At the 1 year ultrasound it is completely gone! Bye-bye blood thinners!

X-rays show that the hardware in my back is holding well. My surgeon, who I can't thank enough, said I am good to go for golf as long as I don't swing for the fences. Again,

Physically I am still getting stronger, as I joined a gym and have training sessions twice a week. That has been huge to continue my therapy working on balance and strength. I am able to do just about anything I need to do now, which is fantastic.

Things that still need work... I have 2. Neuropathy in my left thigh is pretty painful even with 2 different pills. Looking for alternatives. Also, my legs are still numb. They feel like they have been shot full of Novocain. That may or may not improve from here.

Any way I slice it, if it had to happen to me, I think I've come through it about as well as I possibly could. I believe I got a miracle. I'm humbled and thankful. Thank you to all of you that showed support on this thread! You kept me motivated and in good spirits more than I can say. To quote my favorite T-shirt: Life isn't perfect, life isn't easy, life is good!

@hubbahubba I just read this thread for the first time. You have a great attitude and are very positive person. I hope you get onto the golf course soon and start doing the things you enjoy. Hopefully you continue to improve from here. All the best.

Thank you. I've got a golf trip scheduled for end of May with 7 college buddies that I've known for 38 years. I missed last years trip, super excited about this years!

Putting a cherry on top of this thread. I still don’t have the balance to take a big swing, but my short game is returning nicely. 3 days in the Colorado Springs area with 2-1/2 days of golf at 3 great courses. Played Bear Dance, Flying Horse North, and the last day at the Broadmoor, home of the US Senior Open in June. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for us and we were rained/hailed/soaked and frozen out. My steps for each day were over 14,000 for the first 2, and 7000 for the last round, all over the hills and mountains. It was a year ago today that I ditched the wheelchair. Thank you Lord for my miracle!
