Parking...Do any of you do this?
I am one of those who of course hates a door ding or scratch and will walk a marathon from my car to the front door of a store. But do any of you do this thing at a parking lot? And if you do, have you ever been keyed or vandalized in some way?
Here is an example of a parking @hole I saw yesterday at my local Starbucks. ![]()

I think doing this makes it more likely that someone will key you.
Why do people feel they are entitled to take up 2 spaces? Are they more important than everyone else? Because their car is more expensive, they should somehow be allowed to park like a selfish jackass? I park away from other cars, at the far end of parking lots. I would never consider taking up two spaces. |

I would say the owner of that car is an idiot..he basically invites people to scratch/key/spit/whack his car...no, he begs people to do it...if parking is difficult in that lot, he's asking for it...

NEVER! Parking like that is an invitation to be egged, keyed, spit on, crapped on...you name it. However I am one of those people who park 3 miles away so nobody will park next to me....although somebody always seems to anyways.

It is kind of like a catch-22. If you take up more than one parking spot than you will get keyed, but if you park only taking up one spot and a then another car parks next to you, you will probably get your car scratched...so just park far away from everyone else.

Hell NO, That kind of shit headed self centered BS is what makes us ALL look like Self absorbed dickweeds....
No, I'll park WAY OUT in BFE, Up against the curb... Or somewhere out in the Sticks.... I'm all for avoiding door dings, but you've got to be subtle about it or you just end up looking like a target.

That same guy probably wonders why BMW drivers have a stigma of being assholes...
Ugh, park far from everyone else if you don't want to be messed around with. I'd try to fit my car in between there and park and wait for him.

I go park in a corner, where I can hug a curb.
If I see an @ss like this, I'll double park next to them. Especially when I have my pickup!

I used to do it but I don't want to be a dick and be "that idiot that parked in two spaces." Agreed, it draws unecessary attention. I did have a bit more piece of mind though -- denying people the ability to park next to me!
can't you get a parking ticket for that as well??

I sometimes challenge myself to see how many spots I can take up at once....I think 6 was my record (handicap counts as extra)....

parking away from other cars, and expecially parking in 2 or more spots gets your kar vandalised here, even the guy with the zonda here can park his car in the spot right
has absoloutely nothing to do with it... we get bentleys and ferraris here that are able to park in spots, so what makes the guy with the bmw think he is special? surely he doesn't think his car is better then the lambo next to him?

Asking for trouble.
Parking like that could certainly elicit trouble in some form – I would never do it myself..
I park away from most cars and on uphill grades where there are shopping carts. What annoys me the most is when my cars get sandwiched between two SUV's with kids who fling the doors open with abandon. And I live in the land of SUV's. Oh well - I take reasonable precautions but still suffer from door dings after awhile. Parked next to a handicap spot once and got severe damage from the passengers wheelchair. Oh well, Eberhard |

^ Yeah, I gave up after a while.
There is nothing you can do, just pray really. Shit WILL happen. I am returning the car in less than 20 months anyways, so I am going to enjoy this beast while I can. |
