I was driving home from work in the rain the other night, and I was passed by a dark grey matte finish sports car. It didn't look familiar, and I've seen most of the modern sports cars at the track. I was able to pull up behind it and listen to the amazing engine note. A very discrete howl as it went through the gears.

At a stoplight, I finally got close enough to read the name. It started with the familiar looking BMW style angled letter "M", but it wasn't followed by a number. Instead it had the letters "cLaren" after the M.

Awesome.

They developed their own motor this time I believe. 3.8 litre V8 with 2 turbos. Revs into the 8 thousands.

Engine specs are right... but the motor is made by Riccardo in the UK. The engine has a very wide "dual" character... quiet and kind of flat below 3500 rpm, and very mean above it.

Car drives in a very interesting way... on full comfort it rides like no super car before, and on full race it firms way up.

Nice car... but takes time to really understand it.

There's an orange one that's been sitting on the local Aston Martin dealer lot here for several weeks now. Amazing car, horrible model name. MP4-12C sounds like a Canon copier.:(

LOL - some clown was tailgating me a couple of days ago, so when we got to a speed limit increase, I stood on it to get some space. As I pulled away, thought "And what the hell kind of car is that?? Don't recognize the nose, it's probably something lame."

Or...it's a McLaren MP4-12C :confused0068: The guy's still a clown for tailgating, but I'll give him props for the car.

Cheers

Actually they are much more common here than most of the other exotics.

Downtown one night at a place that we go to.

Late afternoon?

I was at Breidscheid Bridge Corner (the corner where you can see the Hotel an der Nordschliefe) taking pics and then no cars came through for about 10 minutes. I figured there was another accident, so I went to a bar in Adenau (Hotel Blau Eckte).

What happened?

Yeah when the racing was over they opened the track to the public...
A biker came off and then got run down by a car. He was killed on impact. :(

That's a shame. Lots of bikers there for the GP race that weekend. After driving the circuit it's really easy to see how the accidents happen.

All my track shots were on Sat. and all my parking lot pics are from Sunday, so perhaps I snapped a pic in the lot.
