Well I picked up my SQ5 today! Fun car and up to 90 mph or so it honestly feels about as fast as my M3 in a straight line. That 3.0T is definitely underrated even in the SQ5. I bought it for about $13k less than what I would be looking at with a Macan S.

I'm confused. You owned but never drove your Q5 3.2? Yes I did try the X3 in sport plus. In comparison to the SQ5, there is just no contest for power and sportiness. I haven't driven a Q5 3.2 but I bet that thing is even more a dog than the X3 35i when compared to the SQ5.
I owned a Q5 but have not driven an SQ5. By far the 3.2 lags behind both the X3 35i and SQ5. That being said, I am not convinced the SQ5 is that much quicker than a stock X3 35i.

I know you're in the honeymoon stage with your SQ5 but the X3 35i is in no way a dog in comparison to the SQ5i. There's only 4/10th's of a second difference between the two (0-60 ) as rated by factory.

I'd buy me a Turbo. I think the Macan looks much better than it's bigger brother, the Cayenne.

Cayenne is due for a refresh, along with the platform sharer Audi Q7, which is rumored to shed 800 lbs over the current model.

I think the Q7 is still on the 1st gen. platform shared with the 1st gen. Cayenne and T-regg. Will the new Q7 skip the 2nd gen. V.A.G. Platform and go directly to the 3rd? The Cayenne lost ~400 lbs when going to 2nd gen. which debuted as MY 2011 if I recall correctly. A refresh with the Macan's rear end would do wonders for an already great SUV. ( We have a 2013 which has been awesome ).

Trust me, it's way faster by butt dyno and I think the numbers would back it up if there was a recent comparo.

Anyway it doesn't matter to me except that coming from a V8 M3, I thought the X3 35i was slow and the SQ5 feels very fast.

It is a lot faster, no question. My buddy just got a SQ5 as well. Can attest to your statements. It surprised me when he let me drive it. Sounds good too, nice throttle blips in dynamic.

Congrats!! Did you pickup the Estoril blue one at Barrier? Please check back and give us an update now and then how it holds up as an M3 replacement for you once the initial new car excitement has cooled. I hope it continues to impress and feel like a good trade-off since it will make for a few more choices for me next year.

Barrier had sold that one like the day after you posted about it. I didn't even get to see it by the time I got out there. I shopped between University and Barrier but the bottom line was they didn't have the right car coming in so I went down to Sunset Audi in Beaverton. My M3 buyer was down there anyway so it made the transaction a little more smooth. Here's my thread about selling my M3 with pics of the new SQ5:

After a while I'll probably do a write up in this forum but it's too early for that.

Very nice Transfer, black always been a good Audi color. Congrats again, your M3 is almost identical to mine, same MY, options and very similar miles except mine is Jerez black.

Nice! If a Macan doesn't work out for me, I'm looking at an Ice Silver SQ5.

Although, i've heard a few new owners were able to swing custom colors. Two Misano Red SQ5s are in the US right now!

I think i'd go for their Suzuka Grey on the RS5 for the SQ5.

Kinda putting BMW to shame. I'll take the smaller, funner Macan Turbo. It just sucks it shares the same under pinnings as a Toureg.

I'll have to test drive one. I have an e92 M3 as well, in addition to having owned 4 different TTV8 N63 (1 DINAN flashed) F Series cars, I wouldn't categorize my X3 35i slow, quite the contrary, based on butt Dyno and other factors. Perhaps I have a factory freak N55.

The Motortrend test results you posted are the slowest I have seen for the 35i. Anyway enjoy that SQ5 nice ride no-doubt:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've seen that Misano red one online. I think the owner said it was a $2500 custom color. Not too bad really considering their pearl colors are already $1k. I'm going to be really curious to see how much better the Macan is to the SQ5 when people finally get to drive it. I'm sure it will be better but I wonder if it will justify the $10-15k price bump.
