Ok, this is the biggest game all year so far. These teams will meet again in the AFC championship, and whoever wins this game gets home field throughout. This is just fact people.

Indy's defense is faster and younger than NE's defense. The offenses are about the same in potency with NE having a slight edge.
Homefield advantage to the Colts, playing on turf helps them a lot.

I see Indy winning by a Vinatieri field goal. Both teams will put up at least 30 points.

Indy 38
NE 35

By the way, I really want the Pats to win this game. ;)

Slight edge? As of last week, they have outscored the Colts by 107 pts. This is not including the 52 they scored today.

They haven't played the same defenses. You can't compare point totals. They both have the best qb's, amazing wide receivers, good rb's, solid OLines... slight edge to NE.
Also consider that NE also has had a few defensive and special teams scores to help their point totals.
AND, you have to admit that NE leaves their starters in blowout games late into the 4th quarter for god knows whatever reason.
Throwing bombs to Moss when you're up by 40 points? Going for it on 4th down near goal line? That helps the stats.

That's true. Then again, Colts were never really a big scoring team. The Pats will just go in there and show that they can really play while the Colts are more of a below the radar kind of team. They would just go in there and win the game without going too crazy (at least most of the games they play anyway).

OP- I had my calendar marked a month in anticipation of next week's game.:party0030:

I just wish someone will go undefeated so they can stop trotting out the geriatrics from the '72 Dolphins team.

Colts have a very, very small advantage on defense. If that. If Vrabel plays like he did today, Pats have the advantage.

As for offense, the Colts' offense is good, the Patriots offense is on another plain of existence.

My prediction: Pats by 14 in a high scoring affair, something like 49-35.

The Pats schedule has been far easier. Indy will win - not by a blowout, but in a strange role reversal, I think Indy is now the more balanced team. Used to be that they had a killer passing offense but couldn't compete with the much more balanced Pats. Not that way anymore.

I pick the Pats based on the pass defense shown against Dallas. I think the same defensive strength will apply to Indy and Pats offensive is just sick this season.

No kidding.....the teams that the Patriots have beaten usually look bad because they get decimated by the Pats. The Chargers, Cowboys, and Redskins are a combined 14-7, and the Patriots have outscored those three teams combined by 90 points. That's an average of a 30 point spread against teams with a .667 winning percentage!

For those who think the Colts have a good defense:
The Redskins entered with the fifth-ranked defense in the NFL and left with the franchise's worst loss since 1961.

"I don't know of a weakness that they have," Washington coach Joe Gibbs said.

...

The Patriots (8-0) have scored at least 34 points in each game and have won each by 17 points or more. They've outscored opponents by an average of 41.3 to 15.9.

At this rate, they'll score 662 points, shattering the NFL single-season record of 556 set by Minnesota in 1998. The 52 points were their most since they scored 56 against the New York Jets in 1979.

It shows that they can destroy a good defense.

Not really, if you look at what they've done against two good offenses in the Chargers and the Cowboys.

Patriots. People actually think the Colts have a chance? For once Brady has good offense and now he is showing Manning that he is the better QB.

And defense? Ok what about Bruschi, Vrabel, Seymour, Harrison, Samuel?

Actually I'll just say this, if they are winning going into the half then they will win. If you look at all their last I think its nearly 30 or so games. Maybe a littles less. But if you look every game that they were leading into the half they won. The others they didn't.

Although that can be subjective I feel it can stand true.
