So the article said that they were shot down by a off duty cop. So why in the second picture does it appear that the driver's head is not on his shoulders?

I have the full set of police photos (and trust me they are very graphic). The police reservist is a very good shot, both hijackers were taken out with shots to the head and chest. These guys I am sure will be linked to several murders, rapes and armed robberies.
