Thanks for your input. Good thing is that if I purchase the Apple and end up not happy with it, I could get a full refund within 15 days. It's a no lose situation. However I'll probably just visit my local apple reseller and try to test it out first. Would you be able to tell me what's the difference b/w the intel based iBook vs the MacBook other than price?

The MacBook has two processors, while the G4 is a single processor. Also, keep in mind that there is a 10% restocking fee if you open the box... (well atleast at the Apple store i go to)

I have a 2002 iMac G4 700MHz that's still chugging along. I upgraded the RAM to 1GB (max), and got a LaCie 160GB external awhile ago. I plan to replace it with the new Intel Mac tower machines when they come out this year...maybe with the 30" cinema display...
I also have a Dell Dimension P4 3.4GHz that's also a great machine.
Mac OS is much easier to maintain than Windows but I like IE better than all the Mac browsers -- websites just work.
For the Mac side I love iTunes (know it's available for Windows too) and iPhoto...

Nabutes..
I meant the new iBook which Armen52 said would be coming out with a intel based processor. We don't have any Apple stores up here and so we have to go though either Best Buy or Future Shop. They don't charge a restocking fee for returns.
For you PC users, what do you guys think about the Acer Travelmate 8200 series?

Based on the recent rumors, word is that the new iBook (officially titled the "MacBook") will be available within 30-60 days. It apparently will also be an Intel Core Duo machine, with isight, frontrow, magcord, and photo booth. Also, it will be available in multiple colors, just like the iBooks that were released in 1998.
If you don't mind waiting, you actually might get more value out of this machine....
