Guy I sold it to in 2018 is selling it. It was my 2nd MS6 & longest I have ever kept any of my 30+ cars. Had it for over 5 years. I was the 2nd owner.

Sold it with about 90k on it & it has 93k now. He replaced with it an E93 M3. Problem is, he threw a rod & had a shop put a Mazdaspeed3 engine in it. Says MS3 motor had same mileage as blown MS6 motor.

I took the front lip & eyelids off prior to selling it to him. From the pics he posted, he did not touch any of the interior mods I did which is good.

We agreed to a price, which I think is fair, and is much better than his listed price of $5,300. I sold it to him for $7k.

The plan is just sell the Acura to get some of the $ back since I don't drive the Acura now so imagine how little I'll drive it with 4 cars. :bellyroll

Can anyone run a Carfax on it? Just to be sure. ;)

Don't the MS3 and MS6 have the same motor? I had a gen 1 MS3 and that was always my impression.

Same motor with some differences if you wanted to swap from MS3 to MS6

I always wanted to toss a big turbo on it. Even if I buy it back, that's not in the cards...for now. I will have to get another Cobb AP, boost gauge & aftermarket BPV for it immediately :bellyroll I also wanna put Spyder LED tails on again.

I did a good bit of demodding when I sold it. Guess I regret doing that now.:lol::lol::lol:

Always had a soft spot for these cars. I'm actually an OG Mazdaspeed Protege owner from back in the day. Kept it for over 6 years. I wanted to replace it with an MS6 but ended up getting into a WRX. Its been many years but I still miss that car. Unfortunately the kid I sold it to totaled it.

:(

A lot of my cars don't appear to fare well with their new owners. My old C6Z was totaled & my supercharged Miata I had before the MSM was neglected & messed with to the point it was not running right. I tried to buy that back recently, but the kit wanted almost what I sold it for in 2018 lol smh

My old roomate had Gen1 MS3. Always thought it was slow as hell, and he often complained of a "duck" sound under the hood. I took a look one day and saw that a hoseclamp for the top mount was missing, which was a huge boost leak. Fixed that, and it actually impressed me. Was no longer a slow manual minivan, and it ACTUALLY made turbski noises.

Pretty certain this is what killed his turbo too, since the wastegate was never opening, the turbo was being worked way too hard to hit the target psi, and with that massive boost leak, it never happened. Thing smokes like a freight train.

Lol funny. The "smoking turbo" issue was actually a known problem and there was a TSB for it.

Yeah, his is sub 50k miles, but I'm unsure if the TSB was ever done or not. I know for a fact that the boost leak contributed to the smoking though. Poor car was never building full boost for who knows how long.

Oh man I loved my MS6! Red on black. I had JB intake, the wishbone motor mount, eibachs on bilsteins and it was a blast! But what a pain in the ass it was when parts broke and you had to wait and wait for the parts to come in. That's the downside of a limited production. But when everything worked it was wonderful

While smoking K04s are common, your friend's issue was different lol

The new turbocharged 6 is pretty sweet. 250hp/310tq. An interior that rivals Audi for quality.
The gen 1 6 was great. I had a GT Wagon with a V6. It drove well and the long roof is a nice design. I also liked the sportback version. They should bring it back since it is a widely accepted format. The sedan version is the least pleasing to my eyes of the 3. i would've bought the Speed6 if came in the Sportback style or better yet in wagon form. Oh what a lovely practical Q-ship it would make.
Alas, it's Ford-inspired interior and drivetrain betrayed the Gen1 and deviated from Mazda's superb handing DNA.

As a used turbo-sedan.... I'd probably pick a Legacy GT or n55 335i.

I think nostalgia is edging out practicality here

Which I’m all about, by the way

I picked the MS6 over the LGT when new. My 1st MS6 was a 2007 that I bought new. LGT interior is shit & the MS6 rode & handled better IMO. The MS6 in question has CS lowering springs & Bilstein shocks that I put on so it's even better now.

I have already had a E90 335xi so no desire for another at their age & maintenance cost now.

Nothing practical about a 4th car anyway.
