So I know you guys are going to think im nuts, but I have been reading up on this car as it caught my attention. Note I wouldn't replace my 335i with it... I just think for the money and if your looking for a tuner car for track / drift this car might turn out to be awesome.

I was reading Car and Driver and they had an article on the car and revealed something that I found VERY interesting. The car;s motor is a 2.0L alum turbocharged / intercooled set up. It was developed as part of the global development program that the new Evo X's 2.0L is derived from and the new Dodge Caliber's 2.4L. The guys a Hyundai told C&D that they left the HP rating at 212 not to kill V6 sales but that they left room for tunners as the motor can handle up to 29psi in stock form (can some one say mitsu's 4g63???)

The article also went in to say they benchmarked the chassis off the E46 M3 :) and said that they manged to make it stiffer then the E46.

Some of the stock options include 4 piston Brembo, and a torsen limited slip.

Weight will be a little bit of an issue as it tips the scales at 3400ish

Thoughts? Comments?

They said the V8 from the sedan wouldn't fit in the coupe. It was in some thread a few weeks ago.

I'm glad they made such a capable engine, but i'm not sure it's going to be such a blast to drive. High boost on small engines just feels so laggy when it calls for a big turbo...which isn't that bad on a evo that weighs around 3000 pounds... on a 3400 pound car? Not so much. Either way, i'm really hoping it makes for a real nice ride. I've been a hyundai fan for a while now. So i'm hoping they back up all my "Hyundai is the next honda" claims

Nice car. Design isnt at all original. But RWD, cheap and turbo motor that apparently is a tuners dream.

It will sell well. From reading this alone im thinking about test driving a 2.0 turbo when they are out.

I don't believe they will be offering the sport trim on the turbo-4. The tuner setup that everyone is referring to might be limited if the LSD and upgraded brakes/suspension are available only with the V6.

Of course the hard core tuning crowd would be making suspension changes anyway. But most people are less likely to try and add the LSD.

Hyundai is offering every option available to both the 2.0T and v6.

Hyundai really wants to get the tuner crowd with this car. That is part of the appeal to me actually. The 2.0T will start at around 19,000 and will probably be at around mid 20s with everything. If this car is really tunable to 29 psi on stock block without much work being done to internals. Than this car will be the next Supra.

From what im hearing, Hyundai was very pissed off at the remark made in the last fast and the furious movie. And are trying to get the young generation market.

Hyundai is supposedly trying very hard to get into Formula 1 by the time S. Korea gets their race. And i believe are also working on a Performance parts section.

This isnt the same old hyundai anymore.

Sounds like a pretty sick little car so far. Doesn't look to bad either. It will be a great value. I just can't see myself driving a hyundai unfortunately.

I feel like they should have created a different brand for these Genesis models. People will pay up for something new and great that no one's heard of, but they'll run from the same car with a Hyundai badge stamped on it. Pretty sad but thats just the reality of brand perception.

Hyundai is gunning to be the new Toyota ... and I think its only by producing cars like this that they will accomplish it. I have a feeling this car will turn a lot of people on to the brand.

i hope this car can force the japanese brand to realize the reality that their sport car market is no longer competitive and hope soon they will release something that's affordable + tunable.

I wish i was born in the rx-7 / supra / NSX / gtr r32 / Celica GTS AWD turbo era.

those were the sweet old days

Here's some chops in all sorts of colors, with drop and wheels.

I think it's got some real potential. I'd take one in the concept colors/scheme (orange/black)!
I'm definitely into this car, especially a turbo 4 cylinder little rocket.

ignorant or not... but cars made in korea haven't really EVER been considered a car worth keeping/driving/buying... don't think they have ever been favored or had the reputation of being a classy/sporty car.

so how is it ignorant? I know they make sub-par vehicles, I am just voicing my opinions on their brand. I don't remember the last time a Korean made vehicle won any sort of award... but if they have, then I apologize for being ignorant.

In that case, you are DEFINITELY ignorant, because:

1. You need to do a research.
2. You need to do a search.
3. You need to keep up with the market, and read more news & magazines.

And you will understand why. Hyundai already got multiple awards and received many positive statements and recommandation honors from MANY different sources.

Can't believe it? Here are FEW examples.

I got that from spending 10 MIN @ google. Sorry its not in chronological order. I just copy-n-pasted whatever I saw, and decided to stop when I was finally getting tired of it. There are PLENTY MORE, and based on what I've seen/read, there are COUNTLESS compliments regarding hyundai vehicles from MAJOR sources. Hyundai right now is not the hyundai 10 years ago. They have been constantly getting nearly full 4, 5 stars for safety ratings for many of their vehicles, getting top/recommandation/editor's choice picks, goes on and on.

Congratulation, because of your ignorance and absence of knowledge, many will think of you as an ignorant including me. :thumbdown
All you had to do was work on a quick 5 min research on google before you put words into your mouth.
