Always disliked the way the 2 series looked, short stubby and awkward, the new design is not much better, no thanks
I always liked that stubby, muscular look to the design, it gave it a kind of street fighter vibe while striking a good balance between aggression and classic BMW lines - it's a modern day E46 coupe in my eyes

Same. Always had twilight purple on my bucket list to pull off. This thundernight metallic could get the job done too.
Thundernight Metallic (G42 2er) | Daytona Violet Metallic (E36 M3 - S50 B30 engine) | Techno Violet Metallic (E36 M3 - S50 B32 engine): see here.

That will likely be the first in-person viewing.
The G42 2er without camo has already been shown to the few invited to drive the test mule.

First official public appearance without camouflage: Goodwood Festival of Speed next Thursday (July 8, 2021):
"BMW at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021
25.06.2021 Press Release
• World premiere of the all-new BMW 2 Series Coupé (...)
BMW will celebrate the return of the Festival of Speed in 2021 with its first ever world premiere at Goodwood. The all-new BMW 2 Series Coupé will make its global debut on 8 July 2021 on the famous 1.16-mile course. Taking to the hill too will be the fastest and most powerful BMW M production car ever, the new BMW M5 CS, whilst the Festival will also provide the stage for two exciting UK premieres for the brand: the new fully electric BMW iX and BMW i4.
The all-new BMW 2 Series Coupé will continue the long tradition of BMW’s driver-oriented, compact and powerful two-door models and represents the most modern interpretation of the legendary BMW 2002. The combination of its compact dimensions, outstanding driving dynamics, optional 6-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive, as well as extrovert design will make the BMW 2 Series Coupé unique in the market. Festival goers will be able to see the all-new BMW 2 Series Coupé unveiled at ‘BMW M Town’ at 09:00 and seen on the hill for the first time in the ‘First Glance’ category from 09:40."

"BMW 2 Series Coupe to make world premiere at FOS
The new BMW 2 Series Coupe is set to make its debut at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. Harking back to the original 2002 of the late ‘60s, the 2 Series follows the formula that helped make BMW’s name as a purveyor of transport for the sporting driver: compact footprint, rear-wheel-drive and the option of a sonorous straight-six.
As BMW’s M-Sport offerings and higher numeral coupes have piled on the power and tech, the entry-level cars have picked up the baton for simple, engaging thrills for keen drivers, and the next 2 Series is unlikely disappoint. It will make its debut at BMW’s ‘M Town’ stand at 09:00 on Thursday 8th July before tackling the famous Goodwood Hill in the ‘First Glance’ category beginning at 09:40."

Yes it is! The spy shots have been showing a power dome, which I assumed was an M2, but it seems it will be a feature of the standard car

I asume the M240i will get the power dome and the M2 will maybe have the same indents as the M3/4?

Let’s hope not.I’m not a fan of those indents on the new M3 and M4.The power dome looks great in these pics.BMW will probably just make the power dome larger on the G87 or just give the G87 the same hood as the G42.The F87 has the exact same hood as the F22.

Geezus a power dome on the 2er hood. This is awesome. I think they're putting all their efforts into the G42/87.

I know I'm going to hate the rear. The dumb choice to make the add more to the "L" LED just follows BMW's current trend of doing too much for the sake of it. It's a shame because everything else looks pretty good, all things considered.

Seems there is an issue with BMW's design team in regard to appealing visuals! A power some won't make up for those ridiculous triangular air vents... Just sayin!

Not sure they got the memo, if it isn't broke, don't fix it!!!

At this rate all BMW's will "look best in black" to mitigate the styling excesses.
