16k mile E46 M3, Laguna Seca Blue, 6MT, no reserve, just sold at Gooding Amelia auction for $106,400.
Hmm, that is awesome but, I still need to see the perfect slicktop, comp pack, six speed, rare color, low mines combination. That was what I thought would hit the jack pot, not this one. Are we sure thats not the ruble pricing?

I guess I'll never understand the mindset of driving a car only 6800 miles in 20 years. Do people buy cars hoping they cash in one day? As an investment?

To each their own, of course, I'm just curious as to what drives the mindset.

Or maybe he has 50 cars and don't really have much time to put much mileage on them all.

I have a 2003 E46 M3 convertible *6 speed MT, 19" rims) with 33,000 miles in mint condition. Silver with gray leather. Considering selling it but am getting mixed advice on price because there are so few out there that have such low miles and have seen none even close to the same condition. Any advice?

Convertible, grey interior, and MY2003 are all going to work against you-- I'd expect you to get somewhere in the 30s.

Even 30 could be tough. I am sure it is nice regardless. The longer you hold it the more it will increase in value.

And yes, I think people selling ones with 6,800 miles are the type of people that have several cars and maybe even has a driver.

+1 verts just don't pull the money.

Peak E46 M3 would be...manual, slicktop, rare color, low miles, zcp comp package.

Who would have expected such a prime example of E39 M5 to become a $120K car, 20 years ago. Perhaps the E46 M3 will be as well in near future. Would have to be in pristine condition to fetch over $100K, though.....time will tell

I think you're a bit behind.

There was an e39 M5 that sold for $170,000 ($185,000 after auction fees), and we've already had an e46 M3 go for over $100,000.... and CSLs do so routinely.

Amazing cars these, hope the buyers of $100K E46 M3s enjoy them as we slowly bid our goodbyes to IC engine cars.
Also, IMO the most overrated M3.

I've only driven my Z4M about 8k miles in the last 10 years, it isn't a "mindset" and it is a really poor investment, just all the things that get in the way of driving it more. Remove Winter (say a 1/3 of the year), I spend 40% of my time out of the country. Put the 2 together and 40% of the year I am in the U.S. and it isn't Winter (less than half). Virtually all weekend or longer trips it is me, wife dog so can't drive it. Anytime it is more than 2 people can't drive it. If my wife is driving or she might become the DD she can't drive a manual. It is poor at hauling anything of size. The list goes on. I don't feel bad about it, drive it when I want and am not trying to preserve it.

I feel you. I was actually just thinking of this today..., "when am I going to get to drive my car?" As I have a very busy summer work wise and travel wise. For most of July and August I won't be able to drive my Z4M save for a day or two here and there. Definitely going to be a low mile year considering it will be parked November to April.

Similar situation to you, so it's great to see I'm not alone. It's just been a super busy year, and on top of that, the cars need maintenance and repairs. So between all that, the only car that gets driven nowadays are the M2 and daily.

Having said that, I know there's barely any new cars that interest me and I know the days of ICE will be coming to an end at some point. This is why mine are just collecting dust and not being sold. I have no plans to make a profit, but it's also nice to know they're not really losing money.

I didn't read the entire thread, but if Enthusiast Auto Group hasn't been mentioned you might try them to see what high-buck E46 M3s generally sell for at retail: https://enthusiastauto.com/bmw/m3series/e46-m3.html.

You are right, I liked when they posted the actual price though.

I saw a pheonix yellow individual with an awesome wood interior that worked on cinnamon interior the other day with less than 800 miles on it. I dont think the owner was selling, but that could be a contender on the open market place.
