By the way BMW M teased the M4 CSL And us we can see maybe the M4 CSL is this car , that was teased again back few weeks ago
Based on the above and information shared by lemetier's user avatarlemetier the hommage car sounds like it is barely an M4 at all.

Where the CSL is clearly an upgraded version of the standard M4, the hommage if i am reading both threads right will be a technology demonstrator for implementation of a hybrid transaxle transmission (i would guess much more). Perhaps pointing the way to what we could (or should) expect from a future hybridized M car???

It sounds like a street legal version of the GT3 racing car, P58 and all!

The Z[4] is to spear BMWs revitalised sports car programme to adhere to a unique philosophy similar to BMWi but for the Sports Car and Performance segment specialising in lightweight materials, advanced construction, individual design and dynamics. Engines will start from a unique four cylinder to a potentially powerful Power eDrive model with up to 500 PS and eBoost which was used under the body of the CSL Hommage/R.

The design of the Lexus LFA successor appears closer to the latest fifth-generation Toyota Supra than the LFA.

The CSL is generally an M4 CSL underneath, but reworked and far more radical in technology, appearance and exclusivity.
It's bodywork apparently is if an M4 went bespoke. It's an Hommage to the E9 including optional classic M detailing.
It's a very special project, that's more of a showcase of what can be done and is looking to Be implemented in the not so distant future.
It could be the first of other bespoke projects under BMW M.
Speculative renderings.

I'm not in the market for a $600k car lol. But its really unfortunate if it looks like an M4 CSL with a few additional "bespoke" body panels.

Original design was gorgeous IMO, this render, not so much.

Ok, to please the old and the new, for $600k, I want a mid engine homage to the 1M with DINAN 4.6L stroker S65 V8 with a 6 speed manual transition. Carbon fiber tub/frame/panels. Updated carbon fiber M4 GTS wheels. Weight around 3000lbs. Stock tires 275 front and 315/325 rear. Optional aero (go stealth 911R or all out Vette ZR1). Any colors are included, NO standard colors, all unique. Interior has a nice sound system. I know you want to hear the car but if there will be speakers then please make them not be shitty. Oh, and European f*uckin pick up!!
Is that too much to ask???
Pass! BMW needs to resurrect the legendary clown shoe; the most radical modern bimmer ever produced and should have never been killed off. 1M is overhyped IMHO.

You mean the hommage is generally a csl underneath?

I don't think we need any inside info to know the csl is a csl underneath! ;)

From insider comments it seems there is an M4 underneath but not the CSL instead it’s the M4 GT3 race car.

It’s indicated that Both the hommage and GT3 has the P58 engine and a version of transaxle transmission. The power output of the P58 is 590 hp in the GT3 and it seems it will be similar on the hommage. The CSL is believed to be based on the M4C RWD and have the S58, the ZF8HP and 540 hp.

The orange render has some M4 bits as lights and kidneys, it would be unfortunate if that is true but I suspect it isn’t and the real design is closer to the hommage concept. Fingers crossed.

On the other hand the M4 GT3 starts at $530k so looking like an M4 isn’t really a downgrade if what you get is a street legal M4 GT3…

1M is just an homage to the only mid-engine BMW other than the i8. They could just call it the"M" but I think they f*uck that up and make it an suv. Anyway, $600k for a BMW is crazy! But a $600 Ford was crazy until the GT. A $600k super special M3? no. A $600k mid-engine super car? hell yes!!!

Hmmm…the M4 GT3 use an Xtrac transmission. The hommage is indicated to be a hybrid with transaxle transmission.

Deduction make it seem plausible that the hommage have a version of this:

With the clues given this seems to be a possible candidate to the hommage transmission.

Good digging…. This has to be it

If successful as technology demonstrator on the hommage i bet the next gen (MY2028?) m3/m4 will see the torque converter go away and be replaced by this

Xtrac is mainly a racing transmission company and I unsuccessfully tried to find pricing but I suspect this tranny cost as much as an M3 so I doubt we’ll see them in any volume M cars.

No idea but the base design and functionality seems to fit. If it is in the hommage it’s likely an updated version.

Perhaps,

It Probably cost that much when they debut the tech, now moving from pure race applications to a demonstrator ultra low production car. In another 4 years could we see a commercialized version of the tech? It seems like the right answer to questions of maintaining a high performance direct connection and having hybrid capability. Obviously we don't know where it sits on the reliability and scalability part of its development curve.
