I am in favor of including the family in this purchase that costs more than both family cars put together. The OP seems to be on the fence about this — one option includes the family and the other is really just for his thrills. I’d change the GT3 option to one with rear seats, whether GT3 or another exotic car, and leave the retro SUV option. Pick between those.

I appreciate all the responses so far. I narrowed it down to these two options partially because of aesthetics. I'm the type to look back at my car every time I park it and want something that I am personally visually impressed with. That goes for the interior as well.

That said, I would consider a GT3 if those were more available on the market. Not many out there, and the ones that are aren't far off in price from a new RS and I think they look so much more menacing/ flat out cooler. I am no racing expert, but I do go to the track several times a year recreationally.

I am definitely open to other options, but so far all I see in this price bracket are the cars some of the users here already named.

Is there anything else out there that's less widely known?

As others stated, this purchase is a weekend toy. That to me, means driving in the Malibu canyons on a Saturday morning to go the beach, or drive a special car to a special occasion like a wedding. Part of my dilemma is if I want that toy just for myself or if I want one that the wife and kids can be a part of. I'm leaning towards just for myself, as others stated my wife's SUV can take care of any outing or day trip with the family. I will say the Vintage Bronco looks so awesome though, but for 250K I would want a little better performance- more than just a new bronco chassis with a different look to it.

My weekend fun car, and the car I drive to work when it’s not raining, is a 2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. In warmer and dry weather, I will use the motorcycle.

Honestly when I read all this, I cannot go past a pristine 991.2 GT3 with the back seats installed, anything else is overkill and you can tote the kids for fun cars and coffee rides.

It ticks every box, 3RS's are great and all but jeeeeezus.

There are tons of GT3s on the market and a new RS is going to be double the price of a 991.2 GT3. Is the car for you or for the family? That's the first thing you need to figure out.
