That overtake by Max on the first lap was surely the best of the season so far. I wonder if there are still people who can deny the fact that he is the best driver on the grid at the moment.

Franz Hermann claims that he can pull off the same with much more traffic on a way longer race track.

Normally it’d take the front runners half the race to pull out a big enough gap on the field so they can pit without coming out in traffic. With a mandated 2 stops, that’s not going to be the case anymore, and you also have to account for the inevitable Safety Car(s).

Unlike all other F1 drivers, he's doing a quadruple header:
Nürburgring - Imola - Monte Carlo - Barcelona.

He got a bit nervous...as I keep saying, the pressure will build and IMO while the sample size is small, he's not been able to put it together for a full season yet. Last year, the 2nd half, he was nowhere. Now, he's got the benefit of the fastest car that requires little to no tire management - an area he is absolutely atrocious in, but will he be able to keep this up for 17 more races? Will he be able to keep pushing it without crashing or crashing with his teammate?

Does the problem with Ant's car rear it's head with Mclaren?

Does the RB21 now have what it takes? It appears RB took a strong step this weekend in a track that is strong for Mclaren and they didnt have much answer for Max whereas even last year they were breathing down his neck. And Tsu also went from 20th to 10th in what is a hard track to pass so that is also pretty telling. And what else does RB having coming that might help as well as the flexi wing clamp down that could do damage to Mclaren.

A lot of questions to be answered.

Part one of the prophecy is complete. It ends with Lewis winning 2 more championships to retire with 10.
Mathematically, it's still possible for Hamilton to get an 8th WDC this season. Didn't materialize the past 4 seasons (P2 - P6 - P3 - P7), but maybe the 5th attempt is successful. Who never dares never wins.

However, realistically, the gap to the current WDC top 3 keeps increasing and there are no signs that PIA, NOR and VER are planning a collective sabbatical anytime soon.

Garage List
Oscar thought he’d pulled off the start then got brain fade complacency. He took a leisurely dip sipping a cocktail in a crocodile infested watering hole.

A bit of bad strategy from McLaren and some luck with VSC (not so much SC) for Max and it was over.

Or was it Franz? I think that guy is even better than Max. Superb performance and the car is way better than it was. This season is far from over.

Speaking of strategy and luck, poor Fernando. Stuck on old tyres, everyone driving by, his radio message said it all.

Then a tyre change under SC and he was driving at his best, with passion, passed 3 cars and almost got Yuki for a point. Down to .2 at one stage. Pity I didn’t get to see it but there was other action at the pointy end. At least finally an upgrade that upgraded something.
