X5 hybrid : range vs cost

Hello all! Just decided to post a thread to gauge more updated real world opinions on the 50e regarding range on pure electric vs hybrid modes

I currently own a 2018 M3 Comp and currently selling my 2016 X5 35i. I recently leased a Kia EV9 due to them having a crazy lease offer start of the year and I have solar at home. Plus I commute almost 85 miles round trip a day for work, so paying less for a car was more enticing since the G05s that are well loaded are still 60k+ used right now.

That said, when the lease is up, I would feel more inclined grabbing a loaded 50e (m pkg of course lol) when they come down a bit more to justify the mileage I’ll load on it. So now doing homework :

1) what’s the consensus on real world range on the battery alone ?
2) I know the car switches to gas after passing a certain mph , but for those who have similar commutes: what’s the magic combo ?
3) even though I know commuting in an suv vs car isn’t fully ideal, need something to tow stuff in and future kids one day. Is the 50e not commute worthy due to its weight and size?
4) how often are the commuters filling their gas tanks? I hail from good ol Costifornia and heard our gas prices are about to soar now that we lost a major gas company (surprise!)

I suggest you look at the X5 G05 Forum on BimmerPost. You will find hundreds of posts (and owners) of the X5 50e and the previous 45e.

I can’t help you myself because I don’t have the hybrid version.

my wife drives a X5 45e

She has 85,000km on it and 70,000km has been purely electric. her commute isn't too far, has no highway miles and she averages 50-60km per charge.

Although, after borrowing my CS quite a few times shes wanting to swap hers for a X5M
