Russell is Director of the GPDA. I believe it was Niki Lauda who last arranged a drivers strike bc of changes to super licence regulations.

Interesting commentary from Nelson Piquet junior (!)

Former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet junior was a guest on the Brazilian Pelas Pistas podcast, where the future of his 'brother-in-law' Max Verstappen in Formula 1 was also discussed.
Pelas Pistas" is a Brazilian motorsports podcast. It's hosted by Christian Fittipaldi, Nelsinho Piquet, and Thiago Alves, and focuses on providing information and analysis of major motorsport categories

There are weekends this year where things just don't work out for Mercedes," Piquet Jr. begins his analysis of the Silver Arrows. "There's simply not much we can do about that. One of their drivers is a rookie, who unfortunately got hit by Isack Hadjar last weekend (at Silverstone, ed.). In any case, it wasn't a good weekend for Mercedes.
But who knows what will happen next year, when Max is driving there."

Unfortunately even Nelsinho or his other Brazilian mates don't know the potential of the '26 Merc 50/50'er.

I don't know. I'm interested to see what the new engines do. Everyone complaining that cars will be slower, but it's that such a bad thing? Right now, the top speed of a F1 car is around 380km/h, if hypothetically 2026 cars top out at say 320-350km/h but invites closer or tighter racing because cars a lot more manageble, would it be such a terrible thing?

They could be 5 secs/lap slower for all I care. If it allows closer racing without the BS dirty air then I'm for it.

it doesn't make sense to sack horner when he is developing a car for Max in 2026.

sacking horner means 2026 is gone, he was both the ceo of the car development and ceo of the engine development. 2026 is about 6 months away. you wouldn't do that normally. once the car and engine design is given to the FIA you can't change it until the FIA announces a new car and engine.

the only reason that makes sense to sack Horner is Max has signed for Mercedes, and this is Jos' parting gift.

i've thought about this for 24 hrs and this was my conclusion

if Piquet Jr really said that, it 100% makes sense, the events that have preceeded.

Horner has never developed a Red Bull car .

The French idiot Pierre Waché is the Red Bull Technical Director and responsible for the 2026 Red Bull RB22 car development.
Horner is still part of the 2026 Ford PU project .
Pierre Waché will fail just like in the last 2 seasons and the 2026 Ford PU will fail .
MAX doesn't have to think twice (!)

I heard Horner wanted to fire Helmut Marko. Then the Red Bull war started again ..
And the Million Dollar bitch started a new lawsuit vs Horner with new evidence .

I'm not really concerned about the top speed. Supposedly they will be faster on the straights but slower in the corners. Also TOO MUCH battery management. Kinda like what drivers have to do now with tires. Seems no driver likes it (In the simulators anyway)

Just go back to ICE, re-fueling and reasonable tire allocations IMHO.

Ben must be replaced in '26 and enough of the manufacturer boot licking to make the way ahead for eventual V8's (or even a return to the twin turbo V6's for two cylinders less for weight reduction, there are V6's now) for 2030 will see a concluding revolution and all change going back to full ICE and smaller monocoques.

Nope. It's a 30 second plug-in recharge during a 34 second pit stop.

And it's garbage. It was never meant to be mainstream, yet. Currently just a marketing exercise.

The issue now is why is F1 pushing so much sustainability and electrification when Motorsports have nothing to do with it. It is, always has been, and always will be just a form of entertainment and excess. So stop pretending.

so why you watching F1 and so interested in the F1 threads? not sure who's pretending.

i have no doubt F1 and anyone in the F1 industry doesn't care about anything other than money and glamour
