... there were only 4 or 5 TV stations. I grew up in LA County and we had a whopping 7 stations! Then UHF was introduced and we got, IIRC, 3 more; that is if you had a TV that was UHF capable, we didn't. We had a B&W TV because we couldn't afford color.

Grew up in LA County as well. We had 7 TV channels; CBS (2), NBC (4), KTLA (5), ABC (7), KCAL (9), KTTV (11), and KCOP (13). No UHF for us. And B&W TV as well.

I grew up in New Mexico but when we finally got cable the network channels were from LA. Saw a lot of those commercials. He had a few different types of dog Spots.

Also watched the Lakers and Dodgers games.

When he started showing his "dog" up on the sign, someone asked him how he got it up there. His answer... "Very carefully!" My dad liked to comment on his antic of having his "dog" jump from the hood of one car onto another that he was pretty much destroying the front suspensions; let alone caving-in the hoods! Wouldn't surprise me if more than a few shocks were blown-out with that sudden ~500# compression!
